Our Approach

The Australia-Pacific Partnerships Platform provides ‘on-demand’ support for Australia and Pacific partners, often government agencies, to progress priority development initiatives. Once a request for support is received, the Partnerships Platform Support Unit facilitates a consultation process to ensure that a proposed investment meets a range of considerations, including:

The Support Unit will also facilitate the process of planning, research and scoping a particular activity and identifying the resources required. This is done through close partner consultation. Once an activity is defined, the Support Unit is then on hand to oversee implementation alongside partners.

Localisation

The Australia-Pacific Partnerships
Platform seeks at all times to be informed
by local knowledge, support local
priorities and contribute to local capacity
and accountability. This requires a
tailored, contextual response within each
Pacific partner country. Needs are
identified in partnership with Pacific
counterparts and, wherever possible,
partner government systems are used,
national organisations engaged and
Pacific personnel involved.

Core principles of operation

True partnership and development effectiveness is borne from more than specific sets of expertise or experience. Good development requires constant learning and adapting, and good partnerships require compromise and understanding. We strive to apply the below principles in order to find the balance between delivering on objectives and building unified, sustainable partnerships.
